Get out and vote!

I'm at it again! I'm almost fully recuperated. This experience has given me time to reflect on the state of the world, the country and the little part of Florida I call home.

The world has taken an interesting turn. Europe, the birthplace of social justice and progressive thinking, has come full around! France has raised the retirement age from 60 to 62 (can you imagine!) Germany has declared multi-culturalism a failure! England is ready to start making social services cuts. Greece and France are full of riots by workers unions! All of the Euro countries have come to the conclusion that capitalism and a free market economy will help them weather the economic storm.

Here in the US, we seem to have gone the other direction. This country was built on the principals of inalienable rights endowed by our creator. The growth of our nation was through capitalism and a free market economy. Now, the current administration (or ruling class :-) ) has decided that we are a nation of dolts (ala Homer Simpson) and in need of their care and guidance.

Here in Florida, we have a tourism based economy. Everybody inherently understand that to stabilize, we need to move to a more business based economy. Because of the fear that small businesses are disliked by our current federal administration, along with the fact that we have some of the nastiest politicians (eg Alan Grayson) representing our state, growth is stagnant and declining.

The only way we individuals can have an impact on the state, the government and the world is to vote!

Just write. Keep composing. Don't think about it. When you least expect it it will begin flowing and you can correct the stuff before later.

Wow. These are fantastic people. Thank you for sharing your ideas. Sarah we agree that friends are so important and your final statement about being a friend to have friends is very true. Phil you attack the US government with gusto. I'm in NZ and the US administration doesn't have a great profile from our side of the world. But what are the options? It is ok to truly feel passionate about injustice but I encourage you to put the same power into considering about some solutions. Zoe your piece made me stop and think about the assumptions I've about kids growing up in two parent families vs parents who are separated. Thank you for sharing your perspective.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of blogs out there - they might actually number within the millions. I've four myself, for various purposes. I'm really careful to not put any identifying info on them beyond the state I live in - three of my blogs do not even have that much.

If the criticism is destructive instead in constructive the individual on the receiving end could start to believe that they are not good at anything and could turn out to be depressed and stop trying on attempting to achieve something. People require to be careful when criticising somebody and make it constructive and not destructive.

Go ahead and create it,it will certainly make you feel much better,when I do not care about other peoples minds I write pretty good stuff!and believe me..when someone comes and inform you that he/she loved your book you will really feel like "God"!and also,who cares if somebody have already wrote a book with exactly the same issue,you are a completely different person and I'm certain what you are about to write will be special!great luck!
